I wish people could do the same with reggaeton music. That would rock!
Are you serious? ” …
Are you serious? “Anything but a racist backlash”? Kind of heavyhanded don’t you think? I don’t disagree that backlash could have been a factor in people’s dislike of disco music. But it’s kind of ridiculous to argue that the sole reason a bunch of liquored-up dipshits got out of hand was due to hatred and fear of black and gay culture. Maybe mass-production and commercialization of disco was a factor? Or people just thought the BeeGees sucked. I think you can make a better argument than that.
Ummm. I hate …

It’s no wonder the …
It’s no wonder the same type of idiots today that would have attended hateful displays of racism such as in the video, are here advocating the same type of behavior for hip-hop.
If you see this …
If you see this event as anything but a racist backlash against the music and culture of the black and gay communities in America, then you’re an ignorant moron. I mean honestly, I can’t even find one black person in the audience.
Pop culture likes to talk nonsense about The BeeGees and Saturday Night Fever but the fact is the majority of disco, R&B, and funk music was made by black people. Discos were one of the few places in America where gay people could feel safe to express themselves.

You know, I disagree with you on a lot of things, but , I agree with you here! I’d go to it, no matter what park it was in.
If it involved blowing up kids crap like the Jonas Brothers, Hanna Montana, and the like, , I’d clear out every record store in a 20 mile radius.
The biggest reason …
The biggest reason why there was this disco backlash is because it was way out of control. It was everywhere.Nobody could escape from it no matter how hard they tried.Every single song that was ever written needed a disco version. There was good disco, and there was bad disco. The bad GREATLY outweighed the good, and because of that, people turned against all of it.Good or bad, at least disco was REAL music, unlike rap, hip-hop, and urban contemporary. We’ve needed a RAP DEMOLITION NIGHT for years!

Let’s have a double …
Let’s have a double” Whiny-Pop-Rock/Idiot-Bling-Rap” Demolition Night, it would be great. Today’s (2000s) music suck balls anyway, there is no real culture in mainstream music at all these days. That’s why I crept away into the deep, deep underground, where great music still exists.
