Are you serious? “Anything but a racist backlash”? Kind of heavyhanded don’t you think? I don’t disagree that backlash could have been a factor in people’s dislike of disco music. But it’s kind of ridiculous to argue that the sole reason a bunch of liquored-up dipshits got out of hand was due to hatred and fear of black and gay culture. Maybe mass-production and commercialization of disco was a factor? Or people just thought the BeeGees sucked. I think you can make a better argument than that.
